We’re ecstatic to announce ‘IMMUNITY,’ our $10,000 Unity development challenge. Finally, a reason to prototype that unique game idea you’ve had floating around! It only takes a simple prototype demoing your game concept to enter (something we all know the Unity engine is great for!) and the winner will receive a $10,000 cash prize, and get a chance to work alongside us to bring his/her game to fruition!
Once game concepts are submitted you’ll all be able to vote on and discuss the entrants. The concepts with the top 5 votes at the end of the voting period will be granted ‘immunity’ and reviewed by the Muse team. From that pool we’ll select the winner. Click here for all the contest rules.
EDIT Submission Period Closed - Voting period Continues
Initial Voting submission: Aug 25 - Oct 21
Final “Immunity” Voting: Oct 21 - Oct 30
Winner announced at the UNITE conference Oct 30 in SF
We run http://musegames.com! We recently announced open submissions for developers, and are working on adding more content, and deprecating some of our early projects we have up.
As per the rules, the $10,000 is a stipend to co-develop and finish a game, which we will then publish on Muse (exclusively for 1 year).
The spirit of the contest is that you bring a game concept to the table, and we will ‘license’ the best one and sponsor its completion.
Go ahead! Submit away!
Just a note though, we aren’t judging by the same criteria. We are simply looking for a solid, refined game mechanic or gameplay, that people can test - whereas UA2009 is looking more for polished, completed games.
Very interesting competition with a great prize! Time for us to brainstorm! I was wondering though if you are allowed to submit more than one prototypes?
Great to know that i can submit the same prototype i am working on currently. O ya, i read the rules, there is no mention of country restriction. SO i will take it as any country can upload?
Sure thing! Although from a strategic point of view, it still will make sense to spend your time on fewer submissions and perfecting the gameplay/mechanics on each.
We are not restricting by country. We’ll consult our lawyer and ask about how payment will work - I’ll get back to you on that - that is the only troublesome part. Oh laws and lawyers…
Yeah - that’s the deal - though we think its a pretty good one
That’s also why we are only requiring prototypes of game mechanics. Individuals without a lot of time may have trouble finishing a game on their own - but we are hoping the $10k and help from our team will enable even the smallest developer to realize their vision, or give more experienced devs the opportunity to take a chance on something they’ve always wanted to make.
This is meant to be a cooperative arrangement, so hopefully it is mutually beneficial. We get to promote our portal and tools for unity developers, and the winner gets a chunk of cash, development help toward a finished game, and eventual distribution and marketing.
i so wish i could enter this but my unity demo is about over and i dont have all the money because of some bills that popped up. i had a game idea i been working sence i started the demo.
That’s a no go for me, I’m afraid. Can’t afford to put all my eggs in one basket right now and if I’d win, it’d have to be your basket and your basket alone.
Now, if only I had time to work on a concept besides the concept I’m working on… but alas
Good luck with the race, though! Great initiative!
Hi, wow, this is a fantastic opportunity for a lot of people.
As I can see, the game must be for webplayer.
The final game must be also for webplayer? or it can be also for installable game?
Due to a large number of requests, we are releasing the details of our contract to anyone who requests it. Either PM me or email me - contest@musegames.com, and I’ll get a copy to you immediately, or answer any questions. We apologize for not having this sooner. Existing entrants will be emailed shortly.
A few key points -
This is a contest: The winner wins the right to a publishing contract. Winning or entering ONLY grants us the right to display your submitted demo.
Our contract is based on a top-line revenue share. This means we will not necessarily be the sole distributor for the winning game. We view this as a cooperative arrangement, and will work with the winning developer to maximize profit across multiple distribution channels.
Our contribution is 10k, as well as development assistance.
Good luck to all, I would also enter by my main stream game is no where near where it needs to be for it to be a “final” product. I am about 2 years at least and about $20k budget short lol. (that is with scaling back)
