After many failures attempting to build games that were far to large for a single person to complete ive decided to try something much smaller.
here is my current project im building after playing altos adventure. I loved the style and control scheme and I wanted to expand on the idea by focusing more on combos and scoring.
Im thinking of setting time limits or distance limits rather then having an endless world. that way I can direct the game play more towards “tricking” and achieving a high score.
Below is my version after 2 days of work. Any ideas or feedback would be appreciated greatly - I know the parallax backgrounds are very broken
Added a day night system, fixed the parallax bg … sort of need to have it scale on the y axis. Improved graphics and added a scoring system.
TODO:
-Add more moves ( spins grabs ect and work out a control structure for each)
-Improve Performance by 10 - 15 fps, the screen recorder droped it by 10 fps i want to hit at least 40.
-Add menus to navigate around, ie start game change character / snowboard
-fix death animation
-sync the directional light intensity to the time of day.
-Figure out the name of the game ( 1080 snowboarding is already taken im sure…n64)
-Fix scoring bug on player launch
Below is a mini clip of progress so far.
Again any feedback would help me lots / tips to improve performance. Removing the bloom lol
Added spin and grab moves + more jumps
Decided to hide the player death altogether for now, but I do think it may be fun to see him bail down the hill.
Environment system fixed, light intensity is now automated.
Improved the performance and graphic quality substantially, runs at a smooth 60fps on my galaxy s5, a few dips to 50 here and there.
Working on the menus / gui / player customization
Adding adds for free release / micro transactions to remove ads, buy more coins ect. Snowboard and a few items on character will be customize-able to increase / adjust player stats
Below is an updated video , for anyone who wish’s to check it out.
