Hi there, i was wondering if it was possible to put two models into one prefab like for example put two different avatars into one model and make it a toggle to switch between avatars on the expressions menu on vrchat, like i know it will probably be a lot of performance issues and i get that, but is it possible to switch avatars through expressions by putting the avatar with a different avatar in the same prefab. (idk if im explaining it correctly or not, im just hoping you understand what im trying to say).

What you’re describing is definitely doable, and I wouldn’t even say it’s necessarily a performance issue, depending on how it’s done. I think it’s not uncommon to have various equipment items all on one prefab which then toggle on and off as needed. Doing it for the player character is likely fine, but if you’re doing it on hundreds of NPCs in the scene, the added cost of tracking the position of deactivated objects may start to have an impact.
Honestly, the best way you can figure some of this stuff out is to just try it! Do some tests without the big change and make note of your FPS. Then activate your test object or objects and test again. A big part of game development is finding the right compromise that gets you good performance, yes, but also allows you to actually get the work done.
could you find a tuto or make one ? i’m not a pro neither in unity but i can do some things. but i have two avatars (sfw and nsfw ver.) but it’s two fbx with diff bodies, accessories and toggles. i already made a separation if i want to use the toggles of the sfw for example but i don’t know how to make in one toggle, switch avatars because i think it would make the other avatar in t-pose only. but i want to move with both like a clone system ! or like i was changing avatars !
Good morning, I was wanting to know if you ever found out how to do this, I have an ideal in mind about the same thing but it will be mostly like An Werewolf TF having one model turn into another. I dont need fancy animation just need to understand how we can get 2 into one thing.
