I’m new to Unity. I noticed when I switch to game view it says “Standalone 1024x768” and then straight underneath it it says “Using resolution 659x494”
Why does it have both, and which one is actually being used in the game view?

If the standalone resolution you chose is to big to be displayed in the game view, it will be scaled down. Note that this only applies for the game view inside the editor.
Try choosing something smaller, like 640x480 and scale up the game view. You will see that it will not get bigger than 640x480 and it will scale down if you make the game view smaller.
