2015 Macbook Air 4GB RAM HD6000

Hi, I create java and mobile games in unity (2D). I decided to buy a new mac because mine macbook pro is too old. I am interested in two models NEW Macbook Air 13 i5 4GB RAM HD6000 128GB SSD and USED Macbook Pro Retina i5 8GB RAM IRIS 128GB SSD. I admit that I prefer the new computer but is it enough to work with unity?

Honestly, I think the Pro is much better. Not only has a Macbook Pro lasted my family much longer than their Macbook air, but there are more options for the Pro. On top of that, the Air is 13 inches. (Small screen + game development) != good. And depending on the games you might do in the future, the Air might not last you as long as the more powerful Pro.

I’ve got a 2013 Air and it’s fine for mobile development and small 3d things. You wouldn’t want to develop and open world game on it. Having said that, in the future I’ll definitely be going for the Pro as I do a lot of Photoshop and video rendering which is quite slow on the Air.

Don’t settle for 4gb ram on any purchase you make.
