This issue has persisted through every 2017.3 patch that I’ve installed. 25-30% of the time when I stop playing in the editor it locks up with the game view stuck in the last frame (i.e. like I took a screen grab of the game just before shutting down). The editor then becomes unresponsive. This is on the PC version, I haven’t tried it on Mac.
This time it crashed with an out-of-memory error:
Trying to allocate: 18446744056529682440B with 16 alignment. MemoryLabel: TempOverflow
18k petabytes seems like a lot.
One more note: if I just leave it when it freezes (which it’s done about half a dozen times since posting this), it keeps allocating memory until my total system memory use increases to 100%.
I’ve given up on 2017.3. Now crashing constantly. Also not able to build to iOS (different set of issues). Pretty clear this one was sent out without a lot of testing.
I’m having the same problems except I’m working in VR which unity kills after the lock up and I have to restart my machine.
I’m going to install an older version of unity and hope I can get things working again.
I will add that my memory isn’t going up after the lock up.
bump. My editor locks up, usually after playing, very consistently. Just sits there doing nothing, I can never get control back but I can safely exit and reload, which is pretty weird in and of itself
using unity 2017.3.1f1 and it freezes after stopping play on a Mac workstation every time. I wait a minute and it comes back. It also freezes for seconds on normal tasks. CPU load and everything is very low.
I am using Vuforia also.
