I’m currently setting a rule tile for my project. It’s not the first time this has bogged me but, today, I’m snapping.
my rule tile has (only) 16 tiles to be added in the tiling rules but I cannot drag and drop them.
adding them manually by clicking on “Select” is not good either since, for each tile to be added, I must enter the keywords in the search field again and again!!!
Could the ream in charge of the rule tiles either:
make the tiles droppable into the tiling rule,
make it so that the search keywords are remembered?
Could you just instead create your own wang/blob tile kind of custom tile? Then you could use some default order of tiles in sheet, drag those to your custom tile assets list and start painting.
I was thinking solution for this issue, and while googling I came across this tool - maybe it could be helpful in your case? Let me know if it works or not, I haven’t used it:
I think how it operates, is by making you to add your tiles to so called blob 47/48 template and then it automatically builds a working rule tile out of it. Actually in the end, you are going to make those 47 cases in any case or 255, or even more (if more than one material connection) if you are going to make a “complete” blob set.
I implemented my self a “bitmask” style 47 set of tiles, it is a bit tedious to create to say the least… and in the end rules are more flexible than having rigid set of exact numbers matching one specific tile.
Oh thank you. I’m not a fan of custom made tools. Let me know how it works for you.
I’d rather Unity Technologies to add “remembered” search keywords, like it does already exist when you search something in the “Add Component” menu, in the selection tools, whether for rule tiles or anything else.
