2019.2.9f1 Scene view performance while in playmode degradation?

This is probably a bug, but I’m not sure what’s causing this.
In playmode scene view is barely usable unless game is paused.

Upon digging in profiler I’ve ended up here:

Unfortunately, it doesn’t show what’s actually consuming resources even with deep profile enabled.

While in game view performance is fine. Or while playmode is paused.

170 ms on i5-9400F is a lot. Is there a way to track down what’s causing this?

Edit: Hmmm, toggling off gizmos does fix the situation. I guess its related to gizmos.

Gizmos are really slow. If you need a serious amount of them, doing a custom gizmo implementation with eg. DrawMeshInstanced will speed up things by many orders of magnitude.

Why that’s not how gizmos are implemented in the first place is anybody’s guess.
