2019 animation bug?

hi,
I’m having this annoying bug.
I have a base set of first person arms with mesh. Each time i import a new fbx file with an animation for these arms and set the avatar to the base arms avatar, the animation doesn’t play in the preview window nor ingame.
somehow it says all the bones are missing, while its the exact same rig?


Just wondering if anyone else is experiencing this?

Base character on the right has Arms_root and then Root_Arms, all animations start with Root_Arms
So exporting from most 3d software will create an extra parent container if it has mesh. This container you do not automatically get when exporting only bones, so best to delete that container from the hierarchy.
