I haven’t used Unity for a while ~ 10 months so I might be a little late to the show. I last used 2019.3 but when I upgraded to 2020 I noticed the Asset Store simply became the Package Manager. I believe this was done for speed.
But when looking at my assets through the package manager vs the 2019 Asset Store, the 2020 package manager was MUCH slower.
Also, we have lost the full capability of the Asset Store. Searching for new assets, finding if I have packages that need an update and just visually viewing my assets (I’m a very visual person).
Please dump this idea of the Package Manager being a “one-stop-shop”, it can’t handle it.
Please tell me there are plans to go back.

The package manager could do with a grid view, ( thumbnails )
And letting you label assets so you can sort by label.
I don’t think the store will come back to the editor, but with some changes the package manager could become a better place to manage asset store packages.
The store in the editor is gone forever. Browse the store online and click the button to open the package in unity.
In terms of asset store content, Package manager is little more than a list that can be told remotely to show an asset and import it.
That’s a decent idea. I like the grid view option and ever since they added the ability for self defined labels, I use them a lot.
