We are using multiple projects sharing the same c# scripts. To make this possible, we use symlinks from the common directory to our asset directories. This works fine until 2021.2 Beta13. From Beta14 and up symlinks produce a crash in “Initial asset database refresh” when loading the project.
We have already reported the bug.
Does anyone know a workaround?

I also have reported the problem, case ID 1376055.
I downgraded to an older version now until this is fixed. The bug sadly also made it into the 2021.2.0f1 release version, and isn’t listed as known issue in the release notes. The current 2022.1 Alpha is also affected by this bug.
This is extremely annoying and I really hope that it gets fixed soon.
I’ve also found this too, after installing+using the 2021.2.0f1 release. I was crashing every time I wanted to start the editor, and I eventually discovered that the issue was related to using a symbolic link folder. Hopefully, this gets fixed soon enough. Can vote on this issue page
