2022.3.50f1 Meta Quest Link gets Black Screen when Game View Hidden

We recently upgraded from Unity 2022.3.20f1 to 2022.3.50f1 and we’ve confirmed a new issue with this update.

Specifically, hitting play with Game View visible works as expected. However, if at any point you hide the Game View (Ex. Pick another window tab that the Game View is tabbed alongside) the Headset will either go Black or Flicker Black and white. Upon reselecting the Game View to make it visible again there is massive lag introduced that doesn’t go away until you stop play mode and start it again.

We’re experiencing this with Quest 2 & 3 via Quest Link.

NOTE: We confirmed in the unity VR sample project in 2022.3.50 the headset view goes black when switching off game view, but when I go back to game view, there is a slight visual glitch for a frame or two and tracking resumes like normal. So the lag issue is likely something additional happening locally for us. But the black screen in headset when Game View is hidden is a shared behavior.

That said, 2022.3.20f1 allowed the headset to continue to render the game while the Game View was not visible. Would like to have that functionality back or at least understand if this change was done intentionally and isn’t intended to be fixed.

Thank you for any and all support.

Thanks for flagging! Do you mind creating a bug ticket so we can track it throughout the resolution process? Thank you!

Absolutely! I created a ticket here: https://support.unity.com/hc/en-us/requests/new?ticket_form_id=65905

Hopefully that’s the correct location.

Any chance one of you can point me to that bug ticket ? Having this exact issue after upgrading our project from 2022.3.20f1 to 6000.2.2f1

Hey @simon_unity757

TLDR: No bug ticket was created. I am going to submit one - if you can do the same.
Here is how: https://support.unity.com/hc/en-us/articles/206336985-How-do-I-submit-a-bug-report

Details: I submitted support ticket but not a bug ticket by mistake previously.

NOTE: We still have this issue in 2022.3.5f1
