2D animation confusion

I have my sprites imported. I tried selecting all the frames and dragging them into the scene, which will then create an animation (and a few other components). Hit play, and it animates. Yay. Except, I have no idea how to modify my animation. It’s animating at a default 12 FPS which is way too slow. How do I edit the animation to change this? Every time I double click the animation it auto-created, nothing happens. I’ve tried opening the animation window (ctrl-6) and it never shows anything in there, it’s always blank. I can’t figure out for the life of me how to edit the animation.

I tried to make an animation a different way…I selected all the frames and right-clicked and said to create new animation. But same thing: Double clicking the resulting animation doesn’t show me anything whatsoever that I can edit with the properties that I need. All I see in both cases are the “Loop time”/“Root Transform Rotation”/“Root Transform Position” categories. Furthermore, I don’t see how I’d even be able to say add extra frames or remove some as I don’t even see an animation timeline of any kind.

Attached are images of what I’m looking at. One shows what it looks like when I click the animation and how it appears in the inspector, the other shows the Animation window (CTRL-6), which is always blank even when I double click an animation.

I believe you need to have the actual GameObject (that contains the animation) selected in the Hierarchy. This will then display the clip in the Animation window.
