2D Enemy movement

How should I go about making my enemies move. I am making a roguelike game and I don’t know what to do with the enemy movement. In other roguelike games, the enemies seem to move randomly but also not randomly. I can find anything online and am hoping you guys would help

I’d love to help but your question is extremely vague. Before you think about coding, you should think about how you want your enemies to move. What kind of behavior do you want them to do? I don’t know anything about your game except that it’s 2D and a roguelike.

I like the movement of enemies in soul knight if you’ve ever played it. So if you can help me find a tutorial or something that will help me I would appreciate it.

@squarekiki Everything that Praetor says above is spot on… but it seems like you’re the kinda dev who wants to jump right in and get going, and I respect that at some level.

SO… I suggest you thunder forth, and for the first version, make your enemies move completely randomly.

I predict if you do that you will be so inspired to play your game that you will start to think of clever ways to make your enemies even more interesting.
