I am still trying to figure out some of the basics with Unity. One of those is 2d design. My main question is what is the best way to make a 2d level and import into unity to add collision? To give an example of what I’m trying to do, think of how Limbo looks. Now I’m not trying to go that deep into development on my first project, but how would I get at least the background and collision?
I have the test level drawn out and then I went into photoshop and made it into various layers. Is there a way to now bring that over as one piece or individual layers then add collision?
You import the background as an image and then draw your colliders on top of it. I’ve never done this specifically, but I think the thing you want to use is the edge collider 2D - you put your background into the level, then just draw the edges in where you want collision to happen. There’s a basic intro here.
Even if you had, would you have remembered it when you needed to do this? Would you have been able to find it again?
It’s not a problem with the site, either, it’s a problem with the world. How does one find necessary things when they’re needed? You know it exists, you just don’t know what or where it is. We don’t have a search engine that will reliably return what you’re thinking of when you say “that movie with the part where Jeff Goldblum has the fractal eyeballs.” (It’s Hideaway.) Our best results still largely come from other people, when we have these problems.
