2D Sprite Editor won't open

Hi all

I’ve just started to learn 2D and found an issue, where i can’t go further.

at:8:00 Minutes

It seems clearly different from 5.6 But it should work also as well. I’ve tried all setups and yet, it wont work. Did i miss something?

No, it’s not any different on 5.6. Have you set the Texture Type to Sprite (2D and UI)?

thanks for the quick reply. Yes i’ve done it and yet, it doesn’t take an effect. A friend of me, who also use unity tested it by himself. Same result.

Could you clarify what you’re doing? I’m not following.
When I drag a PNG into Unity, the Sprite Editor button appears in the Inspector. And when I click it I get the same as the guy in the video.

strange. Do you use the latest version of unity? The Sprite Editor is also displayed. When i hit it, the window won’t open.

okay. I’ve installed unity on my Surface Pro 4. The issue isn’t there anymore. Could it be, that a 3rd party program created the issues? shouldn’t be right? Well now works fine on my surface

I’m pretty sure that has nothing to do with Unity itself. I haven’t heard of that issue before.

Hey there! I’ve fixed it by myself. It was the “L Core” from Logitech Game Framework who fucked up everything :smile: Thanks for your help!

Glad you fixed it. Not sure if this is your exact issue, but I’ve seen before where new windows in unity will be created off-screen. Either you had another monitor before, or your editor layout just got messed up, but usually if you reset your layout to default everything shows up again (top right of the editor there’s a layout button).

I’m having the issue where I could see the button but it won’t open, I have all the packages downloaded.

Could you add some more information to your issue?

  • Which version of Unity are you using?
  • Could you share a screenshot of how the texture inspector looks like when you try to press the Sprite Editor button?
  • Are there any errors in your console?

so basically, different person now, however same problem, i click on the button, and everythings installed and it just wont open it, ive tried hitting windows + shift + arrow left/right yet it doesnt open it, im using version 2021.16 personal if that helps
