Is there any FREE or cheap tool that can optimize large sprites and backgrounds as can be achieved with 2DTK?
I will be using large background images alongside Spriter animations and would like to ensure everything is optimised for mobile. I know that 2DTK has a very clever feature where you can slice up all your graphics into tiles and also reduce replication and remove unwanted areas and it reconstitutes your assets into a very optimised atlas. Any tools that also offer some of these features - FREE and affordable.
Thanks
Unity natively makes sprite atlases and even uses grids to break them down. I suggest your favorite tutorial site (or the unity tutorials for 2d) or the manuals. In fact, i added something neat to the manuals just a short bit ago, check the Docs section of the forums, as I’m a user, not officially changing stuff.
Thanks @feiting . I will take a look. I am using the FREE version of Unity and don’t have access to the Sprite Packer.
I was hoping there might be a few tools / assets that could do some of the things 2DTK does. I do like their feature set that includes dicing up images into tiles and reduces replications and wasted alpha spaces.
i use this, you can buy the upgrade if you want, but you don’t have too. it works great.
