3.1 Download Available In Unity 3

Check it out!
Doing a complete project folder backup before downloading.

Oh, guess I am running 3.1 already but .0f3 version, now .0f4 version is available.

Can’t change topic title so guess I’m stuck with it.

Weird, the file that I downloaded from the Unity page says it was created on 11/10/10
so why was I running an older version than this and why was I notified inside of Unity but had to go to the download page to get the file?
Strange.

.0f4 became available to me last night, and yes a complete download even with the demo. I guess they wanted us to have a complete new version. If not then there is a problem with the update system.
Maybe someone from UT could clear this out.

I downloaded .0f4. It fixes the bug I really care about - tree transition animation in compiled project. But the problem is that it crush on start. I tried to hold Alt key, but it crushes independently even on old “script tutorial” i did a while ago. And on Bootcamp demo it have installed. Chkdsk reports no problems on hard disk. Furthermore, I have a copy of Unity 3.0 - it opens all projects no problem. And I rebooted, reinstalled Unity 3.1.0f4 - but that did not help ether.

Link to Unity 3.1.0f3 would help. For now I forced to use 3.0. :frowning:

I haven’t seen any new problems here but also should have not overwritten the 3.1.0f3 installer
when I downloaded this one just in case so I could reinstall that version.

I don’t think this is a problem with downloaded file (very low chance), but just in case… Could someone check MD5 hash of Windows(3.1.0f4) installation file and confirm that it is: 38C0A9A56FB1AB25648C8F0C5F49A6ED

And possibly someone know how to wipe Unity Editor settings(registry etc…).

How do you do that?

Thank you Don Grey. I gone ahead and redownloaded file, it is identical to the one i downloaded before.

As for MD5/SHA, there lots of utilities around. I use CryoHash for it nice integration with Explorer.

Would start randomly delete Unity related entries from Registry I guess. Meanwhile I opened a bug ticket with UT. Link to Unity 3.1.0f3 would still help.

I downloaded f4. Unity now doesn’t crash each time I select the Asset Store. I still haven’t looked at the Asset Store though. It appears I have to sign up before being able to browse. Not bothering to sign up unless I can see a reason to, which I won’t because I cannot browse.

downloading and keeping UnitySteer up to date with a single click a reason?
Or buying Sprite Manager 2 / EZ GUI and have them in and up to date with a single click

I got the download a newer version 3.10f4 box, clicked and it took me to the downloads page. Prior I had been sent to a bare bones page with a link on it. Is it different now? I downloaded it as a 3.1 dmg and installed and was surprised to find the version was 3.10f3 instead of f4. I am on OS X.

Any clues what this update fixes, adds or effs up?

yes its different now, previously the update available click brought you to the beta download page which is basically barebone html with linked files.

Yeah, I’m a little hesitant to install it without knowing what’s in the update. Especially in the middle of a project. That being said, is it really necessary to redownload the whole thing for small updates like this? I can see it if there are new features or major changes, but for bug fixes can’t it just update the necessary files?

f4 only fixes a handfull of bugs. you can check out the changelog on the website, it lists all the fixes.

for most it is likely interesting as the asset store should not crash anymore (seems to be much better according reports here)

there is no new feature or anything like that. its a subupdate / small bugfix release for 3.1.0 (not even 3.1.1 but upgrade from f2 / f3 to f4)

OK…But the dmg there was not the one advertised when I clicked the update button in 3.10f3. It is still version 3.10f3 and NOT 3.10f4. Hmmm… I will try again tomorrow.
