Hi
I just reformatted a new winxp sp3 machine and install the webplugin 3.1.0.55865. When I run the online check, I do not get an unity engine
Unity Plugin version: 3.1.0f4
Unity Engine version:
I tried it with the web player 3.1.0.54715, it still shows nothing
Unity Plugin version: 3.1.0f3
Unity Engine version:
So when I run any unity program, it just hangs there (or maybe trying to download a big file, I don’t know.). I thought it should install the engine as well.
If I use the old 2.6.1 plugin, then I have an old unity engine 2.6.1 version.
That web page should be updated :] Basically there are two engines: 2.x and 3.x. When Web Player is installed no engine comes out of the box (that’s why the download is so small). When user trys to play a game for the first time correct engine is automatically downloaded. This of course depends on the game itself, whether it was built with old version (2.x) or new version (3.x) of Unity Editor. So the first time user plays a game loading will probably take longer than normal.
What do you mean by “hangs”? Does it take long to download or Web Player becomes unresponsive? There should be normal progress bar updating as the engine and game itself gets downloaded. It should be totally transparent. Could you please report a bug if that’s not the case?
Ignas
Ok, it “hangs” because it’s taking a really long time to download something. Now I got that running, but the web page version still shows the engine as empty.
