3.5.7 WWW.bytes. length always 0 in Webplayer. Was working before.

Recently the code I used to load in www.bytes now returns an empty array in Webplayer.
Standalone and Editor works.

I’ve added in crossdomain.xml and have hosted the bundle and player on the same domain none of it works in Webplayer.
The www.bytes = empty array but I can still Instantiate the assetbundle.mainasset. It’s not using anything special just http:// and I’ve tried it on different servers and dropbox public links.

Has there been some security policy change to the plugin?

I’ve started a new project with just this code and it still returns an empty byte array.

IEnumerator Start ()
	{
		WWW request = new WWW (url);

		yield return request;

		if (string.IsNullOrEmpty (request.error)) {
			print (request.bytes.Length);

		} else {
			print ("Error");

		}
}

The code I used to generate the bundle is this

BuildPipeline.BuildAssetBundle (Selection.activeObject, Selection.objects, path, BuildAssetBundleOptions.CollectDependencies, BuildTarget.WebPlayer);

I’m on unity 3.5.7 latest version OSX.

Thank you

I just made a test with a webplayer I am developing. I have no problem here and it works as expected.
I am using unity3.5.7 on winxp sp3 32bit.

Hi,

Thanks for testing it out.

In your log file stored here (C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Temp\UnityWebPlayer\log\log_UNIQUEID.txt) did it debug a number greater than 0?

Thanks

Hi, I printed the length on the screen.

Hey,

With our 4.0 release we made a fix to the WWW class, the release notes show:

“WWW Class: Fixed parsing text encoding if the encoding http header contains more parameters.”

I recommend retesting with our latest 4.0 build and reporting a bug if it still reproduces.

Thanks,
Chris

Hmmm ok. Still doing the same thing on my machines. Thanks anyways.

Hi Chris,

I’ll try it with version 4 but if it is a bug will there be a hotfix rolled out for 3.5.7?

Thanks

I’ve tried with 4.0.1 and still getting the same results.

Can you report a bug to us? Please include a repro and specific steps to reproduce, then PM me the 6-digit case number.

There is no plans to support 3.5.x anymore, 3.5.7 was our last update.

Thanks,
Chris
