30 day trial.

I downloaded Unity about a month ago. I could not install it, as I do not have a Mac. I am hoping to try it our on somebody’s Mac today. When does the 30 day trial begin, at download, or at install? Thanks all.

BroAndrew,

If the trial runs out and you are serious about purchasing Unity, you can ask nicely and the chaps may offer you an extended trial period. I think it is date linked but you should be able to download it again on the day you get your Mac - cant you?

The trial begins when you install it.

You both (Eric5h5 and IPete2) are correct but Eric’s answer wins.

To the BroAndrew, the 30-day trial period begins when you install the application. You may have started receiving our automated emails, but that’s because those assume you download and install the trial the same day so if you don’t install they arrive “early”.

So install and get to it! (have fun!)

Tom, thank you for your note on the trial. I live in an isolated rural community in New South Wales Australia. There is not one Mac in town. Even the school swapped their Macs for PCs! I wrote to Unity Support to see if they would allow me to purchase the Windows Beta version to beta test it for them. I have not yet received a reply. I am sure such testing would be of benefit to them, and to me! Rather than buy a Mac just for Unity, I will just wait, as I am sure are many others. Thanks for your great community and forum. I cannot wait to join you all in creativity.

That’s not going to happen. We will almost never sell you a license that hasn’t even been released yet and I can say with certainty that we won’t do that now.

Sorry but not everyone that wants in gets in, no matter how much they think they’ll help. I know that you think you’ll help a lot, but so do the few hundred other people that have already expressed, or that have been expressing interest for months. :stuck_out_tongue: Ultimately we have to make sure that the beta program has the right number and types of testers to maximize efficiency and that means saying yes to some folks and no to others. A gajillion people want in, and they can’t all participate, so choices have to be made.

Hang in there, we’re working hard on it and soon this will be a forgotten issue.

Thanks Tom, I have been beta testing software for a long time, but I will keep hanging.
