360° Content Encoding Issues

Greetings!

I’ve got a bunch of 360° content already filmed at the resolution of 8192x4096 off 7 GoPro cameras and then created a panorama via Kolor Auto Giga 2.6 to create an .MP4… but, when I bring the final video file into Unity and embed into the video player to be projected on my spheres, it distorts the top and bottom of the images as if it’s been rendered and encoded wrong or the resolution was too big for the object. It was a complete sphere when I checked the file in Premiere Pro, so I think it may be on the Unity side that it gets distorted.

Does anyone have any suggestions on workflow from creating the 360° content into Unity? I’ve also tried rendering my content down to 3840x1920 to see if that would help the flattening of the video… but, no luck.

I’ve been talking to a few forums and most people believe it’s the encoding of the panos that is causing this issue. What codec is everyone using to get the proper smooth spherical experience projected on to the spheres? I appreciate the help greatly!

Equirectangular format with a 2:1 aspect ratio for monoscopic video and stereoscopic in a 1:1 aspect ratio using Over/Under - two images packed vertically, also known as Top-Bottom.

You need another sphere.
