Jump on the hype train guys. This will be a beast of a CPU for scrap money. You gotta love AMD for turning the tide on the CPU market
Well I’m as much excited about this CPU as you’re, but I wouldn’t call a price tag $750 “scrap money”.
Before Ryzen what did a 16 core CPU cost? Lets just hope someone charges nvidia in the same way. The pricing on RTX is insane
This is not the point. The point is, $750 is not a small amount of money. Even though it is considerably less than what you pay for an Intel CPU.
The rumor says the 3xxx series of Nvidia cards will be cheaper.
What you and I think are little money is individual. But 750 USD for a 16 core CPU is scrap money, thats not individual. No one can say otherwise.
Oh okay. I shut up now.
let me explain basic economics. whats alot of money is up to your wallet, aka individual. Whats value for money is not individual. You can have 2 million USD on the bank, a RTX will still not be value for money. At the sametime, you can be piss poor and the 3950x is still great value for the money
Seeing as we’re not that far away from the 4000 series I’ve already decided to skip buying a 3950X for now. Once the 4000 series launches and we have a rough idea of how it performs versus the 3000 series I might buy a 3950X then and if I’m lucky the price will have come down too.
4000 is APU only
edit: Though the new TR lineup will be interesting
I haven’t heard anything of the sort. What I have heard is that it’s Zen 3 meaning it’s not just a minor revision like the 2000 series (aka Zen+).
4000 coming early 2020 is mobile market APUs for laptop
Yes, the early chips are mobile, but the desktop chips are following later in the year.

Yeah probably Q4. It would be insane of them to release Zen3 closer than that after Zen2. But hey, there is always a better product around the corner for those who wait ![]()
I’ve got a Ryzen 7 3800X. Best chip I’ve had. The Ryzen 9 3950X is on my buy list for xmass.
I’m not overly happy with my 2700x though its better than my 1800x was. I really hope the 3950x will be “intel-stable” (Zen2 is alot better than Zen+ was so im optimisitc)
Way to miss the point. Nobody’s arguing economics, value for money or market value. The point is your specific and repeated choice of the word “scrap”, which is very much individual.
I’m pretty sure I could happily run a small studio on what you throw away because a shinier thing came out.
I grabbed the AMD Ryzen 3900X for my workstation back in August. I love the CPU for productivity tasks. If I had not already bought that, I would definitely be in line to grab the 3950X.
Send the throw away in my direction, if the postal allow it ![]()
Its scrap money relative to what you get. And it’s scrap money in absolute terms too, but that’s very individual, can we please focus on this awesome CPU instead?
TR numbers just released
