Hi ! (sorry for my english)
My name is Alex Rodrigue.
This is my first project with Unity 3D 2.6. And for my first project we decide to work on a 3D arch visualization. Our goal was to achieve a render as realistic as possible. My friend and I work with the external lightmap tool. 3D Max 2009 for the 3d modeling, V-RAY for the lighting and for sure Photoshop (texture). For the skybox, I use Hummus CM texture. It took one weekend to learn Unity.
I was a UDK user for the past 4 years and I decide to switch for Unity for one big reason the multi-platform builder.
For sure I miss the Shader editor from UDK but I see that 2 users from the community work on it for the version 3 of Unity. Awesome news! This is just the beginning from us and we hope to show some new stuff with Unity 3.
This is the link. (I hope you understand that we push the quality and we did not optimize a lot ) http://atomfreakstudios.com/demo.html
Very sexy lighting setup. The next time people are moaning about how basic everything looks without dynamic shadows, I think I might just point them to this.
This is the best real-time interior Viz I’ve seen, and I’ve been doing this for a while. It’s better than my best work. I’m going to have to really lift my game.
Unity is great for interior scenes and you managed to pull off a really great one. Congrats.
It’s good for this type of work because unwrapping Interiors is really easy (usually low poly-ish) and if you’ve already created your interior it takes very little optimization to get it to play nice with Unity. (texture baking is a breeze too)
very nice rendering. Very good use of shadows and reflections.
Juste one thing : it seems you did not push the antialiasing at its highest level. Meshes edges are very sharply aliased… much more than the sceenshots you posted. You’d juste check it and it will be fantastic - litteraly.
Good idea to have an automatically moving camera (would be nice to go upstairs)
Very very nice, lightmaps looks great and the overall look is fantastic…
I wonder, a scene like this how is big? how many mb? it takes a bit to load, just wondering
The texturing is very well done. The layout and the lighting are excellent also.
If I may provide some things that can be improved, in my opinion. The first thing I noticed is that although the glass in the windows in front of the balcony is tinted, the sun light on the floor is the same as in front of the area where the door is open. Shouldn’t the floor be tinted slightly darker in front of the windows? Viewing from the balcony, the reflections in the windows is realistic, however the image in the reflection does not appear to be of the balcony. The third area that you might want to consider is the light being cast by the ceiling spot lights. I would expect some traces of light beneath them. The brick walls could use a bumpmap to give some depth. The final item is the bottom of the overhang, out side of the kitchen window. The texture in this area appears to be brick, matching the walls. I think it would be more accurate if it was textured as cement or wood.
With or without the items I have indicated, this is very good work.
