I stumbled upon this great 3D paint / sculpting program last week. It’s on sale for $70 until December 31st 2007. It works great, and supports 3Dconnexion devices such as the SpaceNavigator.
Yes, 3D-Brush is very cool and very affordable. Unfortunately, it is Windows only and such a resource hog that my attempts at running it under Fusion or Parallels has failed miserably. If it ran under OS X, I’d buy it in a heartbeat.
Crossover has a free trial if you’re interested.
Actually I don’t think it was a problem with Fusion/Parallels not running 3D Brush, but that it ran so slowly on my machine that it basically locked up the OS (iMac 1.83 GHz Intel Core Duo with 1 GB RAM). With 512 MB assigned to Windows XP, 3D Brush barely loaded and ran (with just a simple cube on the screen). I think if my machine had 2 GB or more RAM it might have run fast enough to be usable, but 1 GB just isn’t enough. Sure wish there was a Mac version of this, it sure looks like a very nice tool.
Have you heard of Blacksmith 3D? It isn’t as good as 3D-Brush, but it isn’t bad for the price, and it does run on OS X.
