3d character creation

Hi folks i have a wee question regarding 3d characters. Is it better to keep the mesh in one piece or to have the arms, legs and head seperate? If its seperate will unity cull the faces at the top of the arms or will they need to be capped off. Ur help is appreciated

Unity wont cull the faces you can just leave opened holes for arms and legs and head. You will probably need to separate head and body mesh so it would be good if you would separate legs and arms too. Most characters for AAA games have at least head separated and generally also arms and legs.
