3d Effects Not Working For 2d

Hi, i have purchased 3d effects one year ago. I now want to use them for my 2d game but they don’t appear in game view. I can’t afford to purchase 2d effects for these days. And i searched for 2d effects and couldn’t find ones which provide quality the way i like. I want to use my 3d effects if it’s possible. Can you help ?

Edit: sorry i just noticed i post it under “scripting”. I don’t know how to change it so i hope you don’t mind.

What do you mean by 3D effects? Particles?

Without more details, it’s difficult to know how to help you. Have you tested them out in a 2D view? What didn’t work? Are they playing in scene view? Do you have an example of how it looks in 2D scene view and game view?

You may just have to tweak how they are setup. If the particles are going the wrong direction. Also note if you have gui, it sometimes can be hidden behind gui if you don’t change where it is in the layers.

Simple answer, yes, you probably can get them to work, but it may require work on your part and of course, they might not look exactly the same.

Yes 3d effects which are prefabs. I drag and drop on scene and they don’t appear although i increase their scale or turn around. I move them to front side of 2d plane. And yes they play in scene view but game view. They seem good in scene view.

Should i add “sorting layers” component on to effects to get them work ?

Does 3d effects affect game play in bad direction ? Are there any reasons to avoid using them for 2d ?

Thanks.

I believe you’ll just need to play with the stuff under renderer

I think the sorting layer with the order in layer may help with your issue.

Yes i adjusted settings but i encountered any else issue Which is when i instantiate it at the position of any object as a child, it scales down to ratio of them (When game starts.)

To be clear if;
Effect’s scale is; 2, 2, 2
Object’s scale 10, 10, 10
Then system scales effect down to 0,2, 0,2, 02 (x, y, z)

(Note: i set effect as child of the object after instantiating when game starts.)

How to get over this issue ? Can anyone help ?

You’ll need to adjust it’s scale after setting it’s parent. Or, instead of instantiating, just set it as a child, scale it however you’d like and then turn it on or off or trigger the particle yourself.
