3D Island Modelling- Fantasy Potion

Here a my first time to put any items in Unity’s Asset Store…

It can be useful for power up or heal up whatever it suit you.

and do ya all want me to add basic potion in asset store for bottom price? look like this.

What you need to do is inspire people with your models - your screenshots are your shop window if you like. If the models are not evoking a sense of ‘scene’ or atmosphere, its hard for people to get excited

Why not make a basic room setting, an alchmeists room or something, add a table, etc, and then stock the shelves with the potions.
No guarantee anytime for any sales, but certainly it would give you 100% more selling power.
You could even sell the room! This setting could then provide the backdrop for many more of your singe props

The texturing and lighting is abysmal, and need great improvement. Currently there is no incentive to purchase a model like this whatsoever. Perhaps an additional incentive is that they come with shaders and liquid inside that bubble. That would be a powerful selling point.

I think you should lighten up the scene, and show wireframes too. But anyways, I think these objects are too simple to sell well.

$20 for just one simple model with only some different textures is
way too expensive for indie developers. No chance of selling well.

Thats something you can sell for $2 - not for $20 !

yes textured is my weakpoint. it was my first try for unity. as I am using unreal engine 3 and it was very easy to add bump map and kismet it to create a wow effect… I has no idea how do it in unity as it was base on script alone… in my view…just in a case if you think otherwise.

( I am giggle a bit over you called my texture are like hell :slight_smile: )

I thought I did add screenshot in asset store… no idea why it dont add in asset store. it already has include wireframe.
oh well. something to learn on it.

Dont be put off though by the crit. I remember when i first did my modelling 7 years ago, i got some hard and cold crit… but, i got better!
Just keep with it, work on your texturing, and im sure you will achieve what you want to

No,I wont put off. Because I like criticism, it will help me to improved. I’ve already trainee in stress area.

And yeah I know that I will go through same as you. I may fail or successful. but worth to try.

Yes I will improved my skill in textured for games. as that hand in rpg kit is my first hand painted.
I may master 3d modelling and animation but I am not pro, yet. Until I’ve successful master textured and more men-hour in it. say… 5,000 men-hour to go… :smile: ( my average men-hour in texture is 15 min a weeks… :stuck_out_tongue: )

I don’t mind high prices. I think in unity though, you would have a real bonus if the potions were just env mapped with say, a very simple sphere map shader, then inside have a little liquid mesh, maybe a little particle system with bubbles.

The lighting in the scene would be a big improvement too. This way you are selling a complete asset people can just drop in their scenes and bring an instant alchemist feel to it. You would then only need to offer separate liquid colours, or maybe a little label on them.

Yeah. I would like that. and that good idea that I don’t offer only static mesh…

Good thing that I know how to animation. how about that I will add planer billboard inside potion and I animation it manual… I am think that best if I add more texture variable, it will be clay effect, liquid effect, “firefly trapped inside” effect and growing effect. and I will include projection for lable so buyer can edit it in their own imaged.

hmm! good idea. all I need to add alpha channel in texture map and add particle system inside it. it was cheaper polygon in that way.
much less memory than animation it myself.

I have other idea…
Any one of you know how to add fresnel in material in unity? ( in unreal engine are very easy to add…)

I can. only if I include high res modelling, 100 weapons, variable of armor, variable of shield and over 40 min worth of variable good animation without loops.

That suitable for some one who want to made cinema cut scene.

But I am sorry I won’t do that until any of you ask for this. Because most of people in this unity’s forum only want low polygon. or med
