Hey guys so im working on learning Blender, and i just downloaded it yesterday and started this Trophy Truck this morning, Ive got probably 3 or so hours into it. I Know its rough, and i still need to texture it, but tell me what you guys think. Ill hopefully be making an off roading game here pretty soon so im getting practice making Vehicles.
Dont texture anything until you understand how to build something first. Are you teaching yourself or are you going to some school to learn? Look up some car modeling tutorials, there are tons of them! Sure they may not be for blender, but the methods are the exact same regardless of program.
Looking at the model I know it has bad topology by the facets I see on the polys. There are all sorts of pinches and triangles all over the place and things dont quite flow. Im not sure whats up with the tired on the back, but it seems you that duplicated the model and its sitting inside of itself and causing Z-fighting.
I’m just teaching myself, I just messed around with blender for a bit and started making this. Any pointers for making things flow better? I’m incredibly new at this
Definitely check out some tutorials, you have no idea about topology yet and with 3d modeling topology is literally everything.
actually, in contrast with what hellraizerhhh said, I would suggest working on your texturing skills first. The best way to start modeling is by making a cube and attempting to hand paint a crate texture on it without photo overlays. Understanding what you can and cant do with a texture and how it works with a model is critical to how you model a figure. After the crate trying to do other simple objects is a good idea, if your wanting to be an artist, dont worry about making games yet, just focus on developing your art. Lastly make use of free online tutorials! You can litterally save years of time, if you just spend all the time you can watching tutorials online instead of just trying to figure things out yourself and trying to start big.

are your two best friends as a beginner, you can always look up questions you have.
As for the model, Aside form the fact that you have edge desnity in places its not needed and lacking massively in places where it is, itself you have some crazy stuff going on with your norms. Not sure how to do it in blender but you need to unify your models norms. as well as having no order with your smoothing groups. And you need to make sure that your polys have either 3 or 4 sides, anything more will screw with your textures and really look bad when triangulated in a game engine.
