This is my first post here, so I do not know if I am posting in the right place or not.
Anyways, I have about a month or two of experience with Unity, and currently I am looking for a free and (possibly easy?) 3D Modeling/Texturing Software.
I have blender but it is way too hard to learn (mainly the UI, it is too confusing)
I have Wings 3D, but that program is only focused on modeling and not texturing.
I am not a programmer of any sort, but I learned a few languages using Youtube and the same should go for C# and JavaScript… So I am not worried about that… It is just that I want a 3D modeling software that is free and easy to learn.
Wings is good if you want something very simple and get up to speed quickly but in the meantime I would highly recommend watching blender tutorials on YouTube, especially if you go with a newer version. The UI has been greatly improved over older versions and when you start learning the hotkeys and practice it gets really simple and it’s pretty powerful. CGCookie has some great video tutorials and there are loads more on YouTube:
Thanks everyone
but how about SketchUp (It was Google SketchUp), I tried it and it is really easy to model in ( I downloaded it several hours ago), does anyone recommend it?
The problem with Sketchup is the ugly geometry that it creates when you import it into Unity or any other 3D program. Makes it hard to texture and sometimes it will create very long triangles in your mesh which make lighting the object pretty wonky.
I have been using sketchup for multiple years and it really easy and fast to learn. Also, there are tons of free plugins which help with modeling. I am little suprised that there are not that many unity users using sketchup for modeling. But I would also state that sketchup is mainly made for architectural modeling, not for organic modeling at all.
I am just planning to start bringing my sketchup models to unity so I don’t really know what is the best workflow for texturing and importing them into Unity.
Thanks for the blender tutorials. They are really helpful.
I tried SketchUp with Unity, but as some of you stated, they looked terrible. Looks like I am going to go with blender. Thanks for the tips and advice. Very much appreciated.

Shade 3D for Unity specifically targets Unity development, and its free. You can also grab a script in the Asset Store that lets you interactively edit models in your game.
I’ve bounced off Blender numerous times, too, back in the 2.49 and earlier days.
After Blender 2.50 and its major GUI redesign, I went through one of the CG Cookie tutorials and since then I’ve come to regard as much better organized and easier to use than the Autodesk products I used before (2 times 3 months with the trial of 3ds Max 2011 then 2012 and I’ve had access to a hot seat system with Maya).
What would have really helped me at the beginning would have been a printable cheat sheet with the commonly used keyboard shortcuts in Blender. The CG Cookie guy explained them in a memorable way, though, like (G)rab, (R)otate, (S)cale for the transform keys.
