3D object recognition + tracking with HoloLens 2, is it possible?

Hello everyone,

I would like to use my HoloLens 2 to recognize a 3D object (an engine for instance) and track a 3D model on top, so it serves as some kind of disassembly tutorial for the operator.
But as far as I know, Unity MARS currently doesn't support 3D objects recognition.
I know this can be achived on Vuforia Engine, but it's too expensive, so it's not an option.

Any advices/alternatives on how I could implement this? Thank you.

That would be awesome! My team would benefit from it as well. I'd like to know if there's an alternative as well. Is there any timeline for when object recognition in Unity/MARS will be available?

Unfortunately as of right now the only approach to support object tracking is to write your own provider. We are looking into this and is on the radar but is not yet supported.
