3D Platformer Tutorial UV Maps

I couldn’t help but wonder about the UV map(s) that are part of that tutorial and how elegantly they are laid out to skin a huge number of space with optimal use of repetition.
As I’ve read somewhere it was done in Maya - does Maya have special tools for optimizing maps like this or is it basically just due to a lot of experience at UV mapping?

well in don’t think you need any tool other that the basic you can get in any UV tools, it’s more matter of think about your geometry to get use of tiling efficiently and layout your UV after.

in case of platform you will mostly use simple planar mapping, eventually cubic to get your all your stuff first unwrap in one path

So no matter the software here , they all have teh toosl you need for that :wink:
