3D interactive puzzles has been high on my features list for a long time now, but I have only just got character controller to a point that I like so I have decided now is a good time to start this.
This feature has to be quite versatile as it will be a major component in the game.
The game itself is in first-person perspective, so puzzles will need to be initialized, by going up to the model and pressing E for example.
As I am mainly a graphics artist, this is something I am unsure of how to implement, I have added a few examples of what I am looking for below to help anyone suggest any assets that I haven’t found or any learning resources that would put me in the right direction for this.
The puzzle system I am looking to use or create is 3D, so the player must be able to rotate around the model to see all sides, the other large thing already mentioned is that it would preferably be initialised as the player finds the puzzle models.
I am going with intricate designs so the ability to instantiate things in that wouldn’t necessarily fit in the box under normal circumstances (still unsure of how this will work).
As stated in the title, the feature(s) I am looking for are very similar to the popular Mobile/PC puzzle game The Room, which used something very similar as it’s main feature and gameplay mechanic.
I am aware that Fireproof have many developers but I am willing to spend a lot of time on this to get it working well.
Stages are also a thing, so I may need the player to do a specific part of the puzzle before the next part will be usable (or accessible).
Examples.
