3D Sounds too quiet

Hey, I’ve been having recently this annoying sound issue. If I have a 2D sound and play it in the game, it’s going to play loud and clear, but if I mark this sound as 3D sound, then the sound would play with a quarter of the volume it has when it’s 2D. I’ve been twitching all the settings in the audio source component, but nothing would change, the 3D sounds are just too quiet. Why is that happening? I couldn’t find any topics related to this.

How far away are the audio sources from the audio listener? And how is the rolloff for the audio sources set up?

The same happens for me. The 3d sounds come out at about 1/3 of the 2d sound volume. Our only solution is to have every 2d sound at about 0.35 volume (maximum)

In support of Jesse’s question - are you using Logarithmic or Linear?

bump. Curious about the answers to this one

when something goes 3D sound, then you must calculate a loss of 3 or 6 dB right there, just to start with.
as well as that your sound source might be placed wrong.

like i said in a different thread, then check if your source is not placed wrongly below or above the terrain.
that can be a real headache figuring out why a sound never gets loud enough or close enough, just because your terrain is +5 or +10 above 0. where you placed your source.

really annoying when working with bigger terrains.
