“How would I start?” isn’t really a question that has a definitive answer - so is more suited to the Unity forums than the answers site. All I can suggest is that you ask there, or consider buying an addon like Tidy Tile Mapper
It really isn’t that expensive, and looks like it might save you alot of time and effort.
