Hey guys,
Just wanted to showcase my work in progress project for a 3D simulation for veterinary care, this is an internal medicine case, with diagnostic options, treatment, and an animal that gets worse/better based on your actions (or lack of actions for that matter).
It is still very much work in progress, and unfortunately, as a one man project built by a veterinarian, the modelling is preposterous, so is the animation, but overall the latest build is stable enough to show off here.
What needs to be worked on:
- Better modelling and texturing
- More feedback on what you are doing
- Smoother logic for deciding the patient’s condition
Tell me guys what do you think?
it’s very interesting, it seems fairly adept. i will be a vet now
There are a few bugs in the diagnostics and examination panels, in that opening one dialogue box doesn’t close the other ones, so they overlap, making it impossible to navigate to other tabs. For example, the “Mucal Membranes” button opens a picture that doesn’t seem to be able to be closed, and blocks out the respiratory box. Maybe make it so that only one dialogue can be open at a time?
Other than that, I like the concept, but don’t have the veterinary knowledge to comment on the subject matter. Is this aimed at teaching pupils? (If not, it is waaay too detailed for a layman) If it is educational, I recommend watching the most recent “Extra credits” on educational games (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCCODtTcd5M1JavPCOr_Uydg) and incorporating some kind of metrics system that tells the student where they are going wrong/identifies which areas they need to work on.
It’s good to see some interdisciplinary games designers here on the forum! Keep it up!
Very cool. Love the pop-up close exam photos.
Sidenote:
I did something similar experimenting with an app idea, kind of like an anatomy app for dogs.
