3Dception : Binaural audio playable demos released for Android, OSX and Windows

Hey guys,

We’ve released playable demos of 3Dception, the real-time binaural engine, which a lot of you had requested. It is available as builds for OSX, Windows and Android. iOS should be out soon.

We’ve been constantly improving 3Dception since the first announcement, thanks to all of your feedback! We should have some major announcements in the coming weeks

Here’s a sneak peek of what the Rift mode in the demo looks like!

Looking forwards to this demo! Didnt find an opportunity to give the demo of the asset i was supplied a go but just a few seconds of the video were enough for me to close it and wait till i could have a proper go with the rift on, sometime after dinner id hope

In your comparison of performance, which one is Unity built-in 3D audio?
Is there an A/B test of the built in 3D audio and your implementation?

The Unity 3D audio depends on a surround sound system for the sense of spacial location, this product is intended to give the same effect via stereo headphones (Which it seems to do extremely well going by the video), i dont know how you’d possibly compare them save for surround headphones, but a performance test would indicate wether the effect is having any significant effect on top of the Unity sound processing

@bjornrun We haven’t created a downloadable A/B test comparing Unity’s built in “3D” audio with 3Dception, but judging by our users and their feedback, the difference is quite apparent. If you are a developer yourself, you could head over to our website, download the free plugin and implement a quick test just to hear the results for yourself. Would love to answer any questions that you may have  Thanks!

Well, seems great, least in non-vr mode, with the oculus on i hear a sound pop then nothing

@lazygunn Thanks! Are you on the DK2?
