3ds max 2010

I have 3ds max 2010th I created the animation. A model with animations exported exactly as instructed. But the animation does not show up in Unity. Why?

What do you mean “as instructed”: do you export manually or do you let Unity do the job? If you export manually to fbx, then could you try importing fbx file back into 3dsMax and see if animation still works.

i had this too for a while… things i did that ended up messing it up (in case you’re doing it too)

  1. just dragging and dropping the max file to the assets folder (works for basic stuff but rigged and animated stuff won’t like this.)
  2. forgot to click the “export animations” in the FBX exporter
  3. couldn’t find the motion tab (which is more a blonde moment in my case since i specialized in rigging mainly.) and didn’t collapse the trajectories
  4. forgot to click the object to export and/or didn’t click “export selected” instead of exporting all.

hope this helps, but if not, well, if i can offer any help, i will certainly try.

If I put back into the FBX 3ds max and there is no animation.

Is animation selected in the FBX export panel?

yes

Maybe baking would help?..

still do not know how to export animation ever. When I try to export the FBX is not visible.

Yeah, not sure what is going on with the file, the guy doesn’t work but I put a rotating cube in the scene with him that does.
No more time right now, maybe someone else will find the problem. The bake animation option is greyed out.

Maybe you should save your character motions and import them to your character in unity or you just need some script work…
