3ds max and addiing collision

I am working with 3ds max 6.

waits for the "Upgrade already comments

It was a gift from a friend or else I’d still be working with milkshape or something similiar.

I modeled a small building to place on my terrain last night and ran into some troubles. I saved the file as house.3ds

I chose to add a new asset from within the editor and picked house.3ds. It imported fine. I can add it to the game fine. I am a little confused on 2 areas though.

  1. It has no collision, I can walk through it. I added a Rigidbody and it falls through the terrain. I add a box collider and I cannot walk in the door.

What should I do to properly allow me to walk in the building?

  1. I set my units in 3ds max to meters. My system units are as well. I made the small building about 20m wide x 20m deep x 10m high. It does not appear that size however. It appears to be in feet however.

My file units, system units, etc are all set to 1 meter per unit.

Am I importing incorrectly maybe?

Generate colliders for the mesh in the Inspector’s import settings:

Aha! I shall try that once I get off work.

Thanks.

just following on this topic, reading here… it looks like the example wants render meshes with collision… is it possible to have a collider only object?

Sure, its simply a case of adding the components you want
