3Ds Max interface and controls for Blender

Hey everyone,

I recently had the idea to upload some assets to the Unity asset store to earn some money.
I only use Max for 3D modeling, but since I only have the educational version of it, I can’t sell the Assets I made there, because they are watermarked. I know that Autodesk will never find out I used the educational version for commertial use, but still I want to use a legal way. So I decided to download Blender.
Now I tried to use it as it is, but Blender is pretty different from Max and I don’t want to learn a hole new software.
So i wondered if there are some plugins, that make Blender look more like 3ds Max. Could you suggest me some good plugins, that do that?

thanks for your Answers.

Heya buddy, try exporting in 3DS Max to an OBJ file and then try importing it.

Take a look at this:

thx for your answer, but I would like to model the whole asset in blender, because I’m not sure you get rid of the watermark by exporting it, importing it to blender and exporting it again. I know, it’s extremely unlikely that Autodesk will find out, but as I said, I still would prefer the legal way. Thats why I would like to have other controls for blender.

Blender has 3ds max simulation under user preferences.

Ah, thats nice to know. Is it also possible to change the Interface or is it only for hotkeys?

Only the hotkeys.

Blender’s interface is very pliable, though. All panels have a touch grip on one of their four corners which you can use to merge them into the neighboring panel (drag towards neighbor) or split them in two (drag towards inside of panel). Of course you can change what the panels show, too. You can save panel arrangements as “screens.”

On the other hand, maybe do give Blender defaults a try. It’s very intuitive - eg. G,R,S (Grab, Rotate, Scale) for transformation. Press twice for object-local axis transformation. Or follow by X,Y,Z to limit to one axis. Press twice to make that limiting axis the object-local axis. After a short while, it just makes sense

It might seem intuitive to someone who has been using them for years but to someone who has been using a different system. Like 3DS Max, it is very, very jarring, and having a 3DS Max mode for the interface would help a LOT of people… I really wish we’d had some classes on Blender at Uni.
