3Ds max Models ---> Unity === FREEZE?

After the 3.2 update, I tried importing my 3Ds max models into Unity without using the export function, but instead of appearing on the stationary, the whole program freezes up, took over half an hour until I got fed up with waiting.

Console:

Automatic import for ‘Assets/AK47_Semi.max’ was disabled because the asset importer crashed on it last time.
You can Reimport the asset or rename it in the file manager to force reimporting it.

what version of max are u using? try just exporting as an FBX for unity, if u do you wont have to wait for it to convert either

Haven’t noticed any problems, but the models I’m importing are made from very basic shapes (boxes, cylinders etc) without any textures or lighting.

Are you using “Generate Lightmap UVs”? If so, bug report it with model in question (please, convert it to fbx) and drop me case number

@pat_sommer: This is what happens after exporting:

But nobody seems to reply to it

@tertle: The link above is what I’m talking about

@Alexey: No.

There is no time-out for 3dsMAx import, which means if 3dsMax hangs while performing the conversion Unity will hang as well. We have a tasked planned for this issue.

But I don’t see how Unity 3.2 could cause this problem, because these hangs are caused by 3dsMax. Are you getting it every time? If so could you submit a bug with your mesh attached.

Not everytime, as I said, after I’ve upgraded my 3.1 to 3.2, it started happening, and 3ds Max didn’t seem to freeze, only unity did.

Can you submit a bugreport with your file attached and send me the case number? I’ll drop it into our testrig and I’ll see if it even hangs on my side… I haven’t seen such problems with 3dsMax so far.
