3DSMax Turbosmooth properties not importing into Unity

I have created the simple model of a 6 sided dice. I have the locations of the dots or number indented and applied turbosmooth which makes everything look very nice in the 3DS renderer. I have exported to FBX (I made sure that turbosmooth was checked in the geometry section of the export) but when importing into unity, the turbosmooth effect is not present and the numbers look nothing like the 3DS render.

I do have the latest version of the FBX exporter.

Advice?

Save a copy of the file with the modifier stack intact in case you wish to edit it again,
collapse the model to a mesh and export again.
