I already have VS 2015 Pro installed. I don’t want/need VS 2015 CE installed.
There’s no option in the download assistant to install VS 2015 CE.
There is an option to install Unity VS, which I did not select because I already have it installed.
What I found is that (even though there is no option for this) the download assistant automatically downloaded vs_community.exe and tried to run it.
The vs_community installer ended up failing with an option to abort/retry/ignore (I chose ignore).
I know that previous Unity 5.2 beta installers had an option to install a beta (or RC) of VS 2015 CE, but the option is not there anymore.
Maybe there’s a code path in the download assistant that is defaulting to assume the user wants to install VS 2015 CE, even though there is no longer an explicit option for this in the GUI.
Attached is a screenshot of the component chooser screen for the Unity 5.2.0f2 download assistant.
Edit: I submitted a bug report. The case # is 722301.
