5.2.1p3 Cannot select anything from the scene tab

Hi, I just installed 5.2.1p3 (previously running 5.2.1f1) on my Mac (OS X 10.10.5).

I soon realized that I cannot select any game object by clicking it from the scene tab. New projects, old projects, 2d view, 3d view, all failed. I can still select them from the hierarchy view.

Anyone else having the same problem? Any workarounds?

PS: Submitted the bug report already

I had the same issues, the workaround is to turn off Antialiasing in your Prefs:Quality setting. You don’t have anti Alising anymore, but you can select objects

How on earth is a patch released where you can’t select an object, the most basic operation of the editor. Do these thrown together patches even get tested?

The last 3 patches have been challenging at best. I keep falling back to F1. Im not crazy about relying on workaround on a patch to a patch to a patch that introduces as many issues as they solve. I for one am not crazy about these weekly patches that seem to introduce new things too fast. We are quickly moving into a very unstable dev system. If many of my initial issues weren’t being fixed by these patches I would stay away. But I can’t go back to 5.1 its too late for that. so I seem to be able to work on 5.2.1F1 pretty well. Its just scary that it continues to not improve.I know its a 2 sided sword, we use to not get patches fast enough, much bitching, they went to the weekly patch system, much rejoicing, except now the calendar release day seems more important than testing whats in the patch. I for one would like to see some middle ground. Either that for some sort of HotFix system, which I know isn’t the best either. I appreciate the work Unity Devs are doing, but the weekly releases are scary right now.

…And this is why I haven’t used a single patch release; I simply wait unitl the next big release before upgrading to test the waters.

As for the selection thing, that’s a DX11 bug they are well aware of. Fallback to DX9, and it vanishes!

Im on a Mac building for iOS, I don’t believe we have DX11 or DX9 switches. The workaround giving to me by Unity was to disable Antialiasing in Quality Prefs

This happened to me too. All I had to do to fix it was to close the scene tab, and open a new one from one of the corner menus. I’m on OS X also.

I just tried this as well, it also worked and I can leave AA turned on. Thanks.

Wow thanks artysta and Jaimi!!! Problem solved
