I have animated segmented characters in my game and upon upgrading to 5.3.5f1 from 5.3.4f1,
many segments don’t animated at all in every animation.
The animations preview fine in the animation window but are all messed up in Play mode.

We have the same problem where one of our game objects no longer animates at all when updating to 5.3.5f1
Ya Ive been going nuts too. Certain sprites in the hierarchy wont rotate while the game is played.
Made a brand new controller, dropped in the clips, last clip made the rotations stick again.
Removed that clip, made a brand new one. As soon as I make a rotation keyframe in the new clip all the rotations stick again.
Also when i select a horizontal line of rotation keyframes and delete them, exit animate mode, my enemy is stuck with that part rotated. Overall its super buggy as !@#%
So I managed to fix my issue. In the animation window, right click on rotation > interpolation > Euler Angles(quaternion approximation). All my rotations on the one clip had them set to just Euler Angles, which was screwing up (locking) the rotation in all the other clips. Hope this helps someone
