5.4 won't load blender files

Hi just realised 5.4 won’t load blender files.
On 5.3 they loaded fine, just tried to load on 5.4 and get the following message
"
Blender could not convert the .blend file to FBX file.
You need to use Blender 2.45-2.49 or 2.58 and later versions for direct Blender import to work.
"

However I’m using blender 2.72

I have the same issue. Blender is installed and the fbx export from blender works. I can also use exported fbx normally in Unity. But it seems Unity is not able to convert blend files to fbx by itself.
