For a game actually 60k+ poly model is a bit overkill, but 600k+ man i dont know. I dont have anything against your modeling skills, but I just think that 600k+ is not the polycount developers are searching for. They will be awesome for some visualisation/benchmarking, thats for sure.
Yeah with some optimizing they could be real time models for sure…they look great. They’d actually work fantastic as is for cutscene renders and animations in-game as well!
Yes I would really like to see a few LOD’s (2000 - 20000 poly range) from your model preferably with normal or parallax maps baked from the high poly model.
600K is only good for product visualization.
Most games don’t go over 60K (triangles) + 2 or 3 LODs. AFAIK only Forza uses 100K+ models, but they only show up for the photomode.
These could however be used for texture-baking and then making lowpoly models
Honestly, these are some KICK ASS models… some games like PGR4, the car models are RIDICULOUS… i think they go over 100k… and truthfully, if u want a realised car, you need to put in a ton of detail… a 5000 tri Ferrari Italia is not going to look good at all, especially if you have great shaders and lighting…
Usually, there are almost no normal maps used for cars.
Most of the time its done with poly. (I am talking about recent games on Next Gen consoles and PC).
Arround 5000 tri, your models could look like Gran Turismo 4. (which still looks good IMO).
Gran Turismo 4 used Textures only.
But yeah, Yorzua should show us 40K-60K models.
A render of the car inside Unity would be even better.
I am not using Unity yet as i am still working on my portfolio but i read all your requests guys, and i found it very interesting.
Here is a 60,000 polygons car model finished yesterday ( modelled in cinema 4d / rendered in c4d - vray 2.0 )
I keep over 50k polygons as i cant go for bad quality when rendering high res textures and materials ( all my models got optimized triangulation )
Hope you like it, will take a look in Unity ( beginner in 3D Game engines ) but Unity is definetly the future step
If many people here are interested ( maybe to buy at a very low price ), i can work on lowpoly models.
Just tell me how many polys are required ( min/max ).
I do have a shader that I made for metals…maybe I could use it for cars… also keep in mind that Unity has that 65k vertex limit (which I think is the weirdest thing ever)
