I began a blog series on game design & development as a solo amateur programmer, and first part focuses on the effect of touch controls, and how the world has changed.
It also contains shameless self-advertising, but ain’t it an industry standard by now?
Part II of my development blog is now available HERE. This part focuses on finding the core mechanic in relation to the first part, and also describes the process as:
“JUMPING INTO A PIT OF LAVA WITH A CONCRETE PARACHUTE WITH HOLES, AND A WEIGHT CHAINED ON YOUR FEET, WHILE CLOUDS OVER YOU RAIN DOWN RADIOACTIVE ZOMBIE PIRANHAS – AND YOU ARE NAKED”
Anyway, you didn’t miss much. There isn’t much meat to the story. Just a vague ‘what I did today’ vibe. Along with some really odd choices in graphic design and type setting.
Part one basically says - ‘You can’t make the same game with touch controls that you can for mouse and keyboard’. No prizes there.
Thank you for the criticism. English is not my main language so I’m having alot of trouble materialising my ideas into aproachable and interesting texts. I believe I have succeeded in my latest entry here, and will definately edit the previous ones thanks to your feedback.
I am terribly sorry about the link being to wrong page. Fixing it right now…
I have released another part HERE, this one is much lighter reading, the story we all have: how did it all began? It’s a light read, a refreshment perhaps, and I promise a couple laughs, or at least, a small smile.
