Byethost works pretty well. Beware of all restrictions on any free host that you choose. There are also some hosts which put ads on your pages without your consent, as that is how they make money from free users.
One anti-recommendation: webs.com. The force you to use a WYSIWYG editor and provide no way to edit your own webpage in code, or by uploading new HTML.
They used to allow it back when they were freewebs, but those days are long gone.
For a brief time, they allowed it as themselves - my personal site is based from them, and still has the File Manager.
I tried making a site for The Hero’s Journey, but quickly stopped. Off to find another web host…
Okay.
might as well stick with weebly.
Not too bad for the price
A decent monthly web hosting costs not more than a Starbucks coffee these days.
I have the feeling that people who won’t even spend some dollars for a website are not really serious about their work.
And no matter what free webhosting you use, it looks cheap and doesn’t make a good impression.
Just my two cents of course.
It may not be for any specific project, but rather to prototype a small idea. If it’s just an idea that is being tested, a paid host would be unnecessary.
When I first started I went with Amazon AWS which has a free tier available for the first year: link.
This free tier gives you access to 1 Linux micro server EC2 instance to do with what ever you want. Obviously this route will require you to know some Linux server admin stuff or the willingness to learn. After the first year of the free tier, a micro server will start to cost you about $15 USD per month.
Another option with Amazon AWS could be to host a static website within the Amazon CloudFront CDN. This would be a very fast, cheap way of hosting a website with the downside being it would have to be static HTML. You could look into using a static site generator like jekyll to create a static website from semi-dynamic content. This might be the route I go down when I redesign my website next if I want to save on money.
I will help you.
Why are you seeking free web hosting service?
Because There may a chance to face lot of problems in free hosting service like server down and most of the web space occupy by add.For avoiding this problem,go for paid hosting. If you are interested to host your website on linux based means visit 9CubeHosting.com Recently i hosted my own site using this service.I never had any problem with their services. So only i recommend this one.
Here is a cheap ($1/month) but reliable host:
http://www.nosupportlinuxhosting.com/
That is not free, but it is pretty close.
For prototyping I would just recommend installing Apache locally. You won’t get much more feature-wise with a free host anyways.
If you just need some place to upload your webplayer publicly, use Dropbox or Onedrive.
