A little advise please, not game related.

I’m trying to find a program or other software (free) to stess test my rig to see if it will be stable over time. I’ve tried 3dmark, but that’s ony a one shot deal. What I want is to start the program up, then let it run for a full day on it’s own to see if the cpu temps go up above the norm. Under 3dmark, the cpu temps never went above 52c, but that was short term. I want to push the rig to it’s limits, if possible.
I’ve thought of creating a scene in Unity3.1, then letting it play, but I’ll have to find a way to have the camera or character run around in random circles w/o falling off the edge.
Any suggestions? Thanks.

I personally use 3D Mark 11, and its a good software, altho i dont know much about benchmarking (over a day) but your best bet is just google and look around, or get crysis and run on max :stuck_out_tongue:

Oh goodness, it’s be quite awhile since I overclocked…but…I used…ponders

Orthos!

Try searching for it on google

orthos stress prime

Of course…I haven’t done much since I overclocked my Duo Core (which is why I needed Orthos)

Or try Prime95

Found a little program called Burn-in test @ 3dgurus. Worked good and pushes the system to the max in quick fashion. Shareware, but I only need it once. I ran the max temp test and never got over 62c. Idling in runs about 28-30. Seems I do have issues with the vid card, (driver quit working and recovered) but it’s old anyway (Diamond HD2600Pro). First priority is to get a bigger HDD, as the one I have now has bad sectors, and it’s only 120gb. I can get a new 500gb for around $65, or a 1tb for <100. I can also get a used 500 for $50, but I’m a bit leery on that. Spen a few more $$ and get a new unit, would seem the best thing.
I have created a scene in U3 with the 3rd person view and some hills, trees, waterfalls, smoke, etc. to see how it handles that. So far so good.
Oh, the 3d test in burn in uses a terrain with trees, and the camera rotates 360 deg rapidly. I’ll have to look around and see if there’s a script to make the camera do that. I think that would push the vid card pretty good.

Thanks all.
